The Noosa area was one of our favorite areas in Australia. You have tropical water that is clear, turquoise and warm, a National Park, un-crowded nearby beaches and plenty of places to see kangaroos in the wild. We only spent a few days in this area, but wish we spent more! We stayed in Perregian Beach at The Retreat Beach Houses, which is just 10 minutes south of Noosa Heads.
Things to do:
Noosa National Park– This National Park has loads of hiking trails and beaches. There are quite a few short, kid-friendly hikes with some longer trails as well. We didn’t get as much hiking in as we would have liked to given that we had 3 little kids but we still got to appreciate the beauty of the area.
Surfing – We had the best waves of our time in the area surfing Tea Tree, within the National Park. This wave lines up so well, so you can get insanely long rides here!
See Kangaroos in the Wild– There are lots of places to find them, but we were recommended most frequently to head to Murdering Creek Rd. which is near Perregian Beach. We found 3 huge kangaroos within 2 minutes of walking around!
Beaches– Main Beach and Tea Tree Beach are absolutely gorgeous beaches! Head to Perregian Beach to escape the crowds or Coolum Beach for some more great surf with beach playgrounds as well.
Where to Stay:
The Retreat Beach Houses– The Beach Houses in Perregian Beach are fully self contained beach houses. With multiple bedrooms, a huge kitchen and living room area, washer/dryer (SOOO helpful with kids), pool, tennis courts and free access to pool/beach gear, it is perfect for families or groups. The large ocean view decks make for the perfect place to have a sunset dinner with the family. Perregian Beach was almost empty so we loved having the beach to ourselves, but also just a quick drive to the legendary Noosa Heads surf breaks and hiking trails. Find out more information here:
